The Laboratoire de la Psychologie de la Perception (LPP) is a public research laboratory in Paris specializing in the psychophysics, experimental and developmental psychology of perception, action, and language, and affiliated to the Département d ́Etudes Cognitives, Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris. The aim of the research conducted by the Hearing group is to better understand the properties of the auditory system and the processing principles involved in the perception of speech, music and natural sounds. Our focus is more particularly on time: the perception of the temporal structure of sound, and the use of the temporal structure of neural patterns in the processing of acoustic features. Research conducted by the Vision Group is aimed at a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying a variety of visual phenomena and of the links between visual perception and action. Our interests include the origins of the unique color hues, the information and use of multiple cues for three-dimensional perception, the properties of visual attention, and the effects performing multiple tasks simultaneously.
