Early TINA V2 Distributions

TINA V2 development started by mid 2000.
These early distributions are provided for historical and comparison purposes only. For any actual verification task, please use instead the latest release.
These distibutions are standalone repackaged versions of the original distributions with the same version numbers. Conversely to what the installation instructions in distributions may say, there are no pre-requisites.
Each comes with:
- its dedicated initial web page (without binaries);
- a link to the then-current Tina web site in the WayBack Machine (without binaries);
- a set of standalone repackaged binary distributions, for a try.

For the tools, repackaging consists of adding all binaries necessary for their execution (that is minimal binary installations of lcs 5.2.0 and/or Poly/ML 4.1).
For the tcl-tk written editor/GUI (nd), wrapping by the long defunct tclpro 1.4 is replaced by starpacks implemented using tclkits.
Except for some minor changes to the gui/editor sources following repackaging, the source codes of the gui/editor and tools are identical to those of the original versions.

Installation:

First note that all these distributions are 32 bits, so make sure that your operationg system supports execution of 32 bit code. Then:
Download then unpack the desired distribution, this creates a folder named tina-2.X.Y. The binaries are in folder tina-2.X.Y/bin (tina-2.X.Y\bin on Windows). The gui and editor is nd[.exe] in the bin folder.
To install the tools in folder bin, navigate to tina-2.X.Y in a terminal, then type:
source setup on Unixes, or
setup.bat on Windows

Usage:

See doc/txt/tina.txt for available tools and their options, and some example runs. Some sample nets are in folder nets, in textual (.net) or graphic (.ndr) form.

Hints:

For options, type nd -h, tool -h in a unix terminal.
On windows, the same effects in a DOS window are obtained by, respectively (assuming no file is named oo):
nd -- -h > oo | (type oo & del oo)
tool -h > oo | (type oo & del oo)

[By the way, if you know a simple method to get rid of file oo, please tell me !]
