HIS

The University of Skövde was established in 1977 and around 400 staff members are working in the different education and research programs. It is a public university located in south-west part of Sweden in the region of Skaraborg. The main education and research areas are oriented to engineering and technology, computer science and technology, nursing and natural science. Other subjects taught at the university are behavioral science, economics and social science and media and humanities. For the University of Skövde it is natural to contribute to growth and prosperity through our work which includes collaboration with the rest of society. We keep an ongoing dialogue and exchange of knowledge between the University, the business world, the region, local communities, organizations and students. The purpose is to be part of our regions development, as well as the development of all of Sweden.

Within the university of Skövde, the Virtual Systems Research Centre (VSRC) encompasses six research groups that are active in the area of virtual systems, such as product- and production simulation, virtual human centered product design, computer gaming and virtual training. Elected to be the Volvo Preferred Academic Partner within Virtual Manufacturing (VM), VSRC is well recognized mainly by the automotive industry as the leading research group in Sweden in the area of VM in general and Simulation and Simulation Based Optimization (SBO) in particular. In terms of simulation and SBO, it is the largest research group in Sweden that conducts research, development and consultancy to solve industrial-scale problems.
